Parents Weekend

You may have been wondering why I didn’t post anything on the blog this Friday afternoon after I’ve been so consistent.  Well, this weekend is parent’s weekend at my college so I’ve been doing all kinds of activities with them and I didn’t really have any good blog ideas for this week, so I decided that my parent’s weekend activities might make a good story.

After school, I met up with my parents for a BHLP open house.  We got to talk to some of the staff there and my parents took a leadership personality test. There were some snacks there, but I didn’t eat anything because it was difficult to find any ingredients.  Then we went to visit my cousin who lives nearby.  The four of us went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner, and they were pretty good with accommodating my allergies.  I have gone to this chain restaurant before in my hometown, and the quality of food and service was the same here.  Then afterwards, we got Rita’s water ice and then we went to see a student theater production.  They performed “It Shoulda Been You” and it was hilarious.  The girl who played Jenny had an amazing voice.  After all of this, I went back to my dorm.

I ate breakfast in my dorm before my parents came and we went to a presentation on housing followed by a bunch of upperclassmen housing tours.  My parents packed me a sandwich from Wawa and some apple slices that we ate between tours.  I then had a break to do some of my work.  For dinner, we drove to Wilmington to eat dinner with our family friends at a restaurant called Capers and Lemons.  I had never heard of this Italian Restaurant, but they were also very willing to work with me with my allergies.  It was really nice to be able to eat safely without having to preorder my meals ahead of time like I do for college dining halls.

This morning, after a quick breakfast, I played my violin at church like I usually do.  But this week, I got to play with my mom and that was really special for me.  After an interview for Freshman Fellows, a group on campus that plans activities for Honors students.  Then, my family went out with my roommate’s family for lunch at Iron Hill on Main Street for my final fun and safe meal out.
